quarterfinal #3 Nigeria - Tunisia 1:1(1:1)(1:0) n.V. , E: 6:5

Nigeria needed a penalty shoot-out in which they almost hopelessly fell behind before overcoming a resilient Tunisian side.

A great first half despite a few defence weaknesses (Tunisia at corner kicks).
Tunisia were more dominant in midfield, still Nigeria showed several flashes of Brilliance in attack to create chances.
The Nigerian keeper Enyama, now fully regenerated from car accident several years ago, parried a penalty.

Concentration was the keyword again when Nigeria conceded the equalizer seconds after halftime.
In the first half they had been alerted at the several attempts of Tunisia to execute set pieces quickly.
Now they were a little sleep, especially the left back Taiwo who had been brilliant in his attacking scenes in the first half. The consequence: the immediate goal by Hagui.
Now a wide open match developed with lots of spaces in midfield.

Tunisia more and more drew back to seek success on the break.
They were unlucky when Santos scored but the questionable, at least very close offside decision went against him. More bad luck when he had to be replaced short after.

After Kanu had come on, he and Mikel had created several chances for the now patiently short passing Nigerians.
Now pace slowed down, and both teams had problems in creating more chances apart from a Tunisian chance after a concentration lapse.

Nigeria had the majority of half chances in extra time, but tried too many times with crosses when passing game did not work anymore.
